The Bicton Overseas Agricultural Trust (BOAT) was formed in 1991 as a charity by a small group of Devon farmers to enable men and women from developing countries to study practical agriculture, rural skills and food processing by attending specially designed short programmes of instruction.
By returning home as better equipped trainers they are able to pass on their skills and knowledge to their fellow countrymen. BOAT has subsequently evolved institutional management courses, delivered both in country and in the UK to help improve training and extension abilities and for this to cascade down to their fellow countrymen and women. |
