Appointment of a Coordinator/Secretary
(Self employed for 6 months in the first instance)
The Board of Trustees of BOAT wishes to appoint a Coordinator/Secretary. This is a new and exciting fixed term post which reflects the success of the Trust in developing its activities in pursuing its Mission: To improve agriculture and livelihoods in the developing world by teaching trainers to train more effectively and training institutes and other organisations to deliver better quality training through improved management. The Trust is at a crossroads and wishes to develop its work further in the next five years.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about pursuing the Mission of BOAT and also demonstrate a strong commitment to its work which is currently largely supported by Trustees on a voluntary basis. He/she will preferably have some working knowledge and experience of the land-based and food industries in developing countries and have good administrative and IT skills. In addition it would be beneficial for the successful candidate to have some knowledge of the workings of NGOs and Charities.
The successful applicant will be self employed and work largely from home for the equivalent of 1.5 days per week for 6 months in the first instance. Because of the close links with Bicton College in East Devon, attendance at meetings and other events there will be required. Some commitment to assisting with fundraising activities will be expected at weekends and public holidays.
The post-holder will be rewarded with an Honorarium equivalent to £7,500 per year and all reasonable and agreed expenses reimbursed.
